W: why, why not, whimsical, wanderlust, wanderabout, wishful, whim, whoa.

H: holistic, healing, higher, hollow, home, homeless, honor, hone.

Y: Yearning, yourself, yonder, yes, YES…… say yes to things.

WHY do we wander, travel, explore? Are we searching for something or is something searching for us? I think we all have defined ideas when we start planning a trip, but if you let it, the journey should take over as we put one foot in front of the other……, and it should…………., it should let us get to a point where we sing and dance while the music is playing, and not simply waiting for a finale.

Trip….. think about that word for a second. Trip - to fall or stumble. Could that be the true purpose of such a venture? The phrase; nothing ventured nothing gained often refers to taking a chance. When we take a trip (of the vacation kind) we are inevitably going or doing something we are either not accustomed to and/or experiencing a destinations unknown (except for what's written on paper or scribed via the interweb). Soooooo if we are tripping, are we stretching ourselves by stumbling our way through a new experience?

A brilliant little line from John Steinbeck’s Travels with Charlie reads, ".... "We do not take a trip, a trip takes us." A seemly small quiet line weaved into his writing that leaves readers to discover and ponder on their own accord. Whether venturing out alone, with a four-legged friend, or a group of human compadres, a trip turns into an experience. A journey of not just the sites, but an adventure that ignites the visceral senses, then stories are told, bonding happens, and we can get completely lost in a moment and to forget about 'life for a while'..... it’s a beautiful thing. But what does that mean? I mean what does it mean to take a trip and get lost in a moment. I think if we look within, we understand this comes to mean we could be overwhelmed with the busy life we have either conformed to, or feel we must live in, to pay the bills and be civilized.

If you feel stuck, bored, or even if you are happy today…., take a trip, fall into something new and discover new places and I’m willing to bet you just might discover more of yourself along the way. The world is whispering to you, now go wander!
